FBR: Thousands of containers didnt reach Afghanistan

The Supreme Court continued the hearing of NATO container case initiated on suo motu notice.

Chairman FBR has presented the NATO containers’ case report which says 19 thousand containers did not reach Afghanistan. The Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammaed Chaudhry headed the 3-member bench hearing the case. Chairman FBR Salman Sidique presented the report to the court.The report says the doubts exist as to whether 19000 containers reached Afghanistan or not. Between 2007 1nd 2010 about 23 thousand containers of commercial trade went missing. It has incurred the loss of Rs 50 billion to the country, the report estimated.The Chairma FBR also informed the court that notices have been sent to shipping companies, agents and NLC. FBR expects revenue of over Rs 25 billion. The court adjourned the hearing until tomorrow.
