Pakistan, India Indus Water Commission meeting from March 29
The two-day meeting of the Indus Water Commission will be held in New Delhi.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan and India will hold a two-day meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission in New Delhi from Thursday to discuss various issues under the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
Pakistan s six-member delegation, led by Syed Muhammad Mehar Ali Shah, will attend the 114th meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission (PIC), which should meet at least once a year as per the Indus Waters Treaty.
India s Indus water commissioner PK Saxena, technical experts and a representative of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will be part of the Indian delegation for the annual meeting.
The meeting will take place in the backdrop of the continuing tension between the two countries over a host of issues, including the harassment of Pakistani diplomats in India.
Sources said that the issues relating to India s Ratle hydroelectricity, Pakul Dul and Lower Kalnai projects, located in Jammu and Kashmir, may come up for discussion during the meeting.
Sources further revealed that issues related Kishanganga hydroelectric project and Wullar Barrage are not on the agenda of the meeting after India refused Pakistan’s request for an inspection of the projects.
