PM holds two-hour long meeting with CJP
PM and CJP agreed to enhance contacts between constitutional institutions.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday held an extra-ordinary two-hour long meeting with Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar at latter’s chamber in Supreme Court of Pakistan’s (SC) building here in Islamabad today.
The premier arrived at the SC building without security protocol where he was received by the CJP.
The statement released by SC’s public relation officer stated that meeting was scheduled on request of PM Abbasi through Attorney General (AG). The meeting was held in pleasant environment.
"The chief justice assured the Prime Minister that he will look into the matter and such litigation shall be fast tracked," the statement said.
"The Honourable Prime Minister also informed the Honourable Chief Justice that the Council of Common Interest (CCI) had approved the water policy which will help in fruition of Honourable Chief Justice’s efforts in that direction”, read the statement.
The statement further stated that PM endured full support for public interests litigation initiatives.
According to details, PM and CJP exchanged views on issues of delimitation of constituencies, general polls 2018, caretaker government and other constitutional and legal matters. The two dignities also agreed to enhance contacts between all state-institutions.
At the end of the meeting, CJP came with PM and both posed for a picture.
