He congratulated his party chairman Imran Khan on being declared eligible

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – After the announcement of landmark Supreme Court (SC) verdict in disqualification cases against Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen, PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry announced that the petition against his party has been dismissed by the top court.

Talking to media outside the court, he congratulated the party chairman Imran Khan on being declared eligible while defending the case of Tareen. He added that two out of three allegations against Tareen were dismissed.

Fawad Ch said that Tareen has been disqualified on technical grounds through Article 62. He told that Tareen’s children are beneficial owners of the property. He called Jahangir Tareen as the victim of “Doctrine of Balancing", saying courts must decide cases on merits and must not be seen as “Balancing” their decisions.

Tareen to continue as PTI Secretary General

Despite the disqualification, Fawad Chaudhry told that Jahangir Tareen will continue as the PTIs Secretary General. He expressed disappointment at Tareens disqualification.

He declared it a big win for his party, pointing out that both PTI and Imran Khan have survived the cases against them.

On the other hand, Sheikh Rashid suggested that elections should be held immediately in the country. He told that today is a big day and he has been awaiting elections for a long period.

The SC dismissed plea to disqualify Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar said Imran Khan was not liable to declare Niazi Services Ltd in his 2013 nomination papers as he was not a shareholder. Bani Gala is Khan’s property and he bought the land for his family, the CJP announced. However, the apex court disqualified PTI General Secretary Jahangir Tareen for life, stating that the reply submitted by Tareen was a confession in itself, thus, he stands disqualified under Article 62 (1) (F) of the Constitution of Pakistan.
