Record of $1 lac remittances not available, CJP on Imran disqualification case

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday heard disqualification case of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and said that there is no record provided regarding remittances worth $1 lac.
During the hearing, the CJP said Bani Gala land is not illegal even if we consider it under the name of no one, adding where in the reply, it is written that Rs65 lac was gifted to Imran by his ex-wife Jemima Khan.
There is contradiction in written replies submitted by PTI chief, said CJP.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Haneef Abbasi’s lawyer Akram Sheikh will present his arguments on October 3.
Talking to media outside the court, Haneef Abbasi said that Imran Khan’s lie has been exposed as he has failed to prove three transactions whereas PTI leaders termed cases against Imran Khan as trash.
Earlier, Imran Khan submitted original documents of money trail regarding London flat’s sale and purchase of Bani Gala land in Supreme Court (SC).
In the trail, Khan said that two installments of Bani Gala land were paid through personal sources. Rs6.5 million was shown as a gift from his ex-wife Jemima in tax statements while it was also mentioned that she paid all the installments except first one and the last one.
There is no need to show any authority over money payments between husband and wife, he added.
PTI chief continued that Bani Gala land was under Jemima’s name from the start as she gave money for it. He said that London flat was sold at 117500 pounds which was purchased by foreign income.
He further assured that all relevant original documents have been provided and requested to make them part of the record.
