Punjab, KP teams cooperating to counter dengue outbreak: Shahram Khan

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) health minister Shahram Tarakai has said on Monday that there was a misunderstanding between Punjab’s health team and that of KP however, both the authorities are now working towards elimination of dengue in the province.

In a press talk, the provincial minister said that he along with chief minister of KP Pervez Khattak was monitoring the teams and workings of the anti-dengue campaign.

He urged the locals to cooperate with the teams for elimination of the fatal disease.

He said that the team of Punjab medics would cooperate with the provincial authorities and dengue teams and that he has conversed with Punjab chief minister as well over the issue.

Announcement would be done in different localities using loud speakers in mosques, he said.

The minister asserted that some 227 patients have been discharged so far and are healthy now. On the other hand, Punjab team has set up its second camp in Safaid Dhairi where more dengue cases have surfaced.

Reportedly, the team have checked around 200 persons in Safaid Dhairi since August 20 night and five were tested positive for the disease.

However, locals have complained that the district administration has attempted to hinder operations of the mobile team dispatched by Punjab government.
