(Web Desk) – On Friday the Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified Nawaz Sharif from the public office of the Prime Minister in a verdict that is being dubbed as historic for a country that has long been struggling with both democracy and corruption.

The verdict which comes in after a long drawn case over the Panama Papers controversy has been received well by the opposition parties that have been calling for the resignation of Nawaz Sharif after the emergence of reports of off-shore wealth. The decision that led to the disqualification from the office of PM as well as the National Assembly has been lauded by the opposition parties that held back-to-back press conferences on Friday evening to express their satisfaction over the outcome.

However, while there were scenes of jubilation both outside the Supreme Court as well as across different cities as opposition workers headed onto the streets to mark the ‘historic’ judgment, there were those hardcore PMLN supporters who mourned over the third time ouster of their PM – Nawaz Sharif.
