Jadhav can never be released or acquitted: Khawar Qureshi

Dunya News

Pakistan's Khawar Qureshi spoke to media in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Khawar Qureshi, the lawyer representing Pakistan in Kulbushan Jadhav case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), has said the ICJ will never release or acquit the Indian spy involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan.

“Make it very clear that the Pakistani public understand, Commander Jadhav is not going anywhere. He is not going to be released or acquitted. The ICJ will never release him or acquit him,” he said while speaking to media after discussing the high-profile case with Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf Ali and Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua in Islamabad.

He also advised the media officials to “behave responsibly” and “give Pakistani officials the respect they deserve.”

“Foreign Office will be giving you a much more detailed press statement soon,” Khawar Qureshi added.

Earlier on Sunday, Attorney General of Pakistan, Ashtar Ausaf said Pakistan would present all evidences before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Jadhav was a Indian agent and we have important information against him, he said while speaking to a private news channel.

He said Pakistan’s stance was not rejected in ICJ on the matter of Kulbushan as interim verdict of ICJ was not defeat or victory of any country.

Replying to a question, the Attorney General said Pakistan was a responsible country and would not violate the international laws but never compromise on the national integrity.

The Attorney General said he would take guideline from national security committee on the matter of Kulbhushan Jadhav.

He said Pakistan was satisfied over the matter of acting Indian Naval officer arrest and punishment, adding that Pakistan was not answerable in front of anyone about the decision of death sentence to Kulbhushan.
