The surge in mercury from the last two days has landed the people into a miserable situation.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Hot weather continues to loom over Karachi on Thursday.

Met Office has said that the city will witness the sweltering temperature till afternoon after which sea breeze is expected to blow in the metropolis.

However; the temperature can shot between 39-41 degrees Celsius while the weather will remain hot and dry.

At present, the city is reeling under 34.6 degrees temperature which is increasing whereas the humidity level in the air is 26 percent.

The surge in mercury from the last two days has landed the people into a miserable situation.

Lack of trees in the city has added to the miseries of the public who sort their shade as a relief from the scorching heat.

The sudden rise of temperature has created fear among the people, reminding them of the treacherous heat wave in 2015.

Two years back, temperatures touched 44 degrees Celsius (111 degrees Fahrenheit) in the steamy port city, the hottest since 1981 and above normal summer levels of around 37°C (99F).

The worst heat wave to hit Karachi for nearly 35 years killed more than 1,000 people.

The problem was compounded by power cuts which left people unable to cool themselves with fans and air conditioners, particularly affecting those unable to afford generators.
