All links of recent terrorism wave were connected with terror sanctuaries situated in Afghanistan.

LAHORE (Analysis by Salman Ghani) - Ostensibly, current operation by the law enforcement agencies along Afghan border against terror hideouts seems effectual. This offensive also sheds light on Pakistan’s deep resolve to uproot terrorism for once and all.

Recent wave of terrorism struck Pakistan when country was reaping fruits of economic turnover. The recent attacks were aimed at obliterating Pakistan’s rising soft image in the world. Islamabad, in response, took all possible measures to thwart subversive intentions of the enemy.

All links of recent terrorism wave were connected with terrorists’ sanctuaries situated in Afghanistan provinces of Kunar, Nuristan and Nangarhar. So, a question stemmed that who would lead assault against terrorists on other side of the border?

Whenever Islamabad urges Kabul to initiate action against safe terror hideouts, the Afghan government presents lame excuse that it has no control over the said areas. It may be recalled that terrorists fled to Afghanistan after operation Zarb-e-Azb and Kabul, despite Islamabad’s incessant requests, remained reluctant in taking a decisive action. This uncertain Afghan policy abetted terrorists in regrouping and they launched new wave of terrorism in both countries.

Thus, Pakistan has no other choice apart from launching offensive. Pakistan may likely get rid of terrorists’ sanctuaries but Islamabad should contemplate on future outcomes of this move.

Terrorism would be eradicated if US shows interest in bringing peace in war-stricken Afghanistan. Likewise, peace in region is also in better interests of all three countries i-e Pakistan, Afghanistan and US.

For mutual interests, these three stakeholders must initiate a conclusive action against miscreants keeping in mind India’s subversive desires which is using Kabul as base for proxy war.

Current situation demands that Islamabad should not neglect situation on eastern front while assault on western front should continue in full swing.
