Cable Operators Federation demanded immediate cancellation of the auction of DTH from govt
PESHAWAR/LAHORE/KARACHI/RAWALPINDI: (Dunya News) – Cable Operators Federation (COF) has on Saturday demanded immediate cancellation of Direct To Home (DTH) auction from the government. The COF officials said that economic murder of the cable operators should be avoided, reported Dunya News.
Holding a joint press conference in Peshawar, Cable Operators Federation of Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cable operators said that DTH must not be launched for at least three more years. They said that the government had not formulated any policy in this regard as yet.
They said that cable operators had invested millions of rupees on DTH but launching DTH would knock 200 licensed cable operators out of business in KP, and 45 in Peshawar alone. They further said that they’d be forced to protest in case the government fails to give a clear policy.

Cable operators protest against DTH in Rawalpindi
Cable operators in Lahore said that stakeholders must be taken into confidence before the auction of DTH. They said that cable would be shut down if their demands are not met. They also announced to move court against the decision.
Rawalpindi cable operators also demonstrated against the auction. They demanded cancellation of DTH for another five years.
Karachi cable operators said that hundreds of thousands will go out of business if DTH auctioned.
