PM lauds Ch Nisar's role in preventing Islamabad 'lockdown'
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Wednesday appreciated Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisars’ efforts to prevent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protestors from reaching Islamabad for a planned ‘lockdown‘ of the federal capital.
The Prime Minister gave these remarks while chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad.
Nawaz Sharif said the Interior Minister did his duty to protect the state.
The role of law enforcement institutions in establishing writ of state is also commendable, he added.
Chaudhry Nisar said he performed his duty under the guidance and leadership of the Prime Minister. He appreciated the performance of police and FC who stood by state and law despite the onslaught.
The law enforcement personnel had detained more than 1,000 PTI supporters from across the country since last week after imposing a ban on all public gatherings in Islamabad -- a ban later partly lifted by a court order.
The PTI leadership withdrew Islamabad ‘lockdown‘ call and the federal government removed all barricades from roads on Tuesday after the Supreme Court offered to form a commission to investigate allegations against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the wake of Panama Papers’ revelations.
