Both countries need to work together to curb terrorism in the region, Army chief said to US delegate

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Friday met with the American delegation led by General John Nicholson of the United States Army on a visit to Rawalpindi. General Raheel discussed regional security with the delegation, reported Dunya News.

Chief of Army Staff told the members of the delegation that action needs to be taken against Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Afghan intelligence agency National Directorate of Security (NDS) and members of other terrorist organisations.

General Raheel stated that the American drone strike in Balochistan was an attack on Pakistan’s sovereignty, further adding that the US forces need to take actions against hideouts of Mullah Fazlullah and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) present in Afghanistan. He further stated that Pakistan’s stance against terrorism is evident before all, adding that the country is against all efforts made towards promoting terrorism. Army Chief said that both countries need to work together in order to curb terrorism to ensure peace in the region.

American delegation also met Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz who stated that the US drone strike will place an impact upon the Afghan peace process, adding that such measures if repeated in future will hamper bilateral ties between both countries.

Sartaj also expressed his concerns over US endorsing India’s inclusion in the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) and also handed over evidence related to Indian intervention in Pakistan.
