Civil, military leadership term US drone strike 'a clear violation of Pakistan's sovereignty'

The meeting of civil and military leadership took place at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) - At a high level meeting held at GHQ in Rawalpindi on Tuesday to discuss issues related to national security, the civil and military leadership expressed concern on US drone strike in Balochistan, terming it a clear violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty affecting mutual trust and undermining the spirit of Afghan reconciliation process under mutually agreed Quadrilateral framework.

The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Khawaja Asif, Ishaq Dar, Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Adviser on National Security Lt General (RTD) Nasir Janjua and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, DG ISI and other senior military officials.



The meeting has expressed resolved to protect core national interests by thwarting all evil designs of anti-state elements.

The participants also expressed satisfaction on the successes of operation Zarb-e-Azb.

It was agreed that achievements in bringing stability in the country will have to be sustained at all costs.

Reaffirming commitment to enduring regional peace, it was underlined that hostile intelligence agencies and their facilitators will not be allowed to foment trouble inside Pakistan.
