LAHORE (Dunya News) – Conflict between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has risen after the district administration barred PTI from holding a rally at Charing Cross area of Mall road, Lahore. However, Spokesperson for the Punjab government has stated that PTI is adamant that it will hold the rally in the exact area despite permission not been given officially.

Speaking in regards to the rally, the Spokesperson stated that government will fulfill its responsibility of providing security; however, maintaining peace and stability during the rally will be PTI’s responsibility.

He added that PTI will be held responsible for any untoward incident during the rally.

Meanwhile PTI chairman Imran Khan remains adamant and has stated that the venue for the party’s rally in Lahore, going to be organised on Sunday at the Charing Cross, will not be changed.

While addressing the media prior to leaving for Islamabad from Lahore s Allama Iqbal International Airport, Khan said that he shall return to Lahore tomorrow (Saturday) and will inspect the arrangements made for the rally.

Khan stated that to organise a rally is PTI’s constitutional right adding that it is the administration’s responsibility to provide security for the event.

He said that the venue of the rally will not be changed as similar events have been arranged at the Charing Cross in the past therefore they cannot be held back from holding a rally at the same venue.

On the other hand, PTI leader Shoaib Siddiqui reiterated the PTI chairman’s stance, saying that the party is determined and will hold a rally at Lahore’s Charing Cross at all costs.

Siddiqui further stated that Lahore was on its way to ushering in a new era. He added that the party will not be afraid of cases and jails.

Sidddiqui stated that the government was responsible for the provision of security to the nation.

He further stated that PTI’s earlier rallies had caused no damages to the property.
