Load shedding cannot be controlled till 2018: Khawaja Asif
The short fall of electricity will reach 7000 megawatt in 2018
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Water and Electricity Khawaja Asif submitted a letter in National Assembly on Monday in which he admitted that the load shedding cannot be controlled before 2018, reported Dunya News.
According to the details, the ministry accepted in the written letter submitted in the National Assembly that the current government cannot get rid of load shedding until before 2018. He said that 14 out of 43 Independent Power Producer’s (IPP) are not working right now while 21 projects are producing less than 50 percent electricity. Asif said in the letter that only 3 power projects are producing 90 percent electricity. It is also mentioned in the letter that the quantum of electricity to be added to the national grid during the present government approximately 18034 MW while the expected demand at that time would be 25790 MW that shows that even in 2018, Pakistan will have a short fall of 7000 megawatt.

Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif on Thursday said that it can take 4 to 5 years to end electricity load shedding, Dunya News reported.
According to details, the federal minister ridded himself of giving dates over and over again by saying once and for all that ending electricity load shedding can take 4 to 5 years.
Asif did not even take the risk of guaranteeing the promise. Not only did he ruin the dreams of ending of load shedding by the year 2018, he also didn’t care for the promises Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been making.
Talking in the National Water Policy Seminar, Khawaja Asif retracted the government’s previous promises and said that the energy crisis cannot be resolved before next 4-5 years.
Not only did he give a new timeframe, he practically put the blame of this on the people. He said the reason of the energy crisis is lavish spending by the people. He also linked this to water conflict with India.
