PPP decides to delay resolution for Rangers special powers in Karachi
The parliamentary committee agreed to not put forth a resolution in the matter
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) parliamentary committee has decided to not move a resolution in the Sindh Assembly on Monday regarding Rangers special powers in Karachi targeted operation.
The parliamentary committee convened a meeting and agreed to not put forth a resolution in the matter.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Functional (PML-F) have announced to protest against the decision during the session.
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah has announced to lodge protest in the assembly today against federation’s attitude towards Rangers issue.
While talking to the media in Islamabad, Shah said that federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar wants the government to encounter a situation like 2014 protests again. He said that he talked to the Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah over the matter of giving extension to Rangers in Karachi.
He would raise the issue in the National Assembly today. He said that Interior Minister is causing issues for the federal government.
On the other hand, a session of the Sindh Assembly is ongoing while today’s agenda includes discussion about granting extension in stay to Rangers.
The PPP meeting held earlier today was chaired by Sindh Education Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro. The meeting reviewed strategy for the session. The participants decided to delay putting a resolution up for discussion until Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties also held a meeting to finalise their course-of-action.
