Rain brings respite to heat-stricken masses in Lahore

People in Lahore experienced enormous relief as rain turned weather pleasant.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Masses suffering from scorching heat for the last few days were relieved when rain hit different areas of Punjab including Lahore on Tuesday morning.  

After severe heatwave there are reports of monsoon rain in different parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, the Pakistan Meteorological Department reported. 

According to Met Office, rain-thundershower with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, D.G Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur divisions), Mirpurkhas and Sukkur divisions, while at northeast Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob, Sibbi, Kalat divisions), Hyderabad, Larkana, Karachi divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan during next 24 hours. 

During last 24 hours, Chakwal has received 37 mm, Murree 30, Muzaffarabad 36, Kotli 13, Bahawalpur and Bhakkar 11, Ghari Dupatta 10, Dera Ghazi Khan 9, Dera Ismail Khan 7, Cherat 6, Rawalakot 5, Jauhar Abad and Balakot 4, Saidu 2, Bannu 5, Sibi 22 and Zhob 7 mm.

The rain spell will continue for two more days.
