FIA to investigate officials and doctors who verified illegal ID cards

Foreigners having these illegal ID cards are from India, Afghanistan, Burma and Bangladesh

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) has on Tuesday decided to include the NADRA officials and doctors who verified the fake identity (ID) cards issued illegally to foreigners. All those officials and doctors who verified the fake ID cards knowing that the card holders were foreigners will be arrested.

FIA has started to call those involved for investigation. FIA recently has arrested many foreigners having national ID card of Pakistan. These cards were issued between 2002 and 2013. The foreigners having these illegal ID cards are from India, Afghanistan, Burma and Bangladesh.
A list of officials and doctors from whole of Sindh has been made and investigations have been started accordingly.

According to details, FIA arrested a man involved in arm smuggling last month and after retrieving his ID card, FIA officials started a family background investigation.

In another raid, Anti Human-Trafficking Cell arrested 9 people from 3 different families from Federal B area of Karachi and investigation revealed that all the families migrated from India to Pakistan in 1999 and all of the family members had Pakistani national ID cards and passports.

According to sources, FIA has retrieved the forms submitted in NADRA by these families and now FIA has started investigating those officials who verified the forms. If investigation proves that the officials knew the true identity of the applicants and still verified the forms then the officials will also be arrested.

During the 12 years period, NADRA issued 40 thousand illegal ID cards to Afghan citizens and hundreds of Bangladeshis while some Indians were also issued illegal ID cards.
