PTI showed extreme patience in response to Khawaja Asif's words: Qureshi
Shah Mehmooq Qureshi said that Khawaja Asif's act was extremely disgraceful.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should have stopped Defence Minister Khawaja Asif from using foul language in the Parliament.
On Monday, the joint session of Parliament saw stormy scenes as a major opposition party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, ended a seven-month long boycott of parliament. Khawaja Asif criticised the party members on their return and used harsh words against them in the Parliament.
Talking to media outside the Parliament today (Tuesday), Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that his party showed extreme patience in response to Khawaja Asif s foul language.
He said that most members of the ruling PML-N thought that return of PTI in the assembly would strengthen democracy whereas Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also intended to resolve matters through dialogue but Khawaja Asif diverted nation’s attention towards political point scoring.
That act was extremely disgraceful, he added.
Qureshi said that Asif panicked yesterday because rigging also took place in his constituency in 2013 general elections.
Defence Minister’s statement was of no importance that is why all members in the House ignored it, he added.
The PTI leader said there is difference between parliamentary and public speeches.
