Cyclone Phet continues to advance towards Pak

Tropical Cyclone Phet has hit the Omani coast and can re-curve towards Pakistans coastline along Balochistan and Sindh in the next 24 hours. According to Met office, the storm hit an island of Oman at 120 Nautical Miles, consequently at least 18 feet high tides were reported in the area. Spokesperson of the Met added that the intensity of the cyclone will be lessened by the time it hits the Pakistani coastline.The cyclone has been downgraded to category 2. According to Karachi Met office, the atmospheric pressure is extremely low in the mid and northern Arabian Sea which played a pivotal role in re-curving the storm towards Pakistan. People living in the areas close to coastal belt of Sindh are being shifted to safer places in the face of critical situation caused by cyclone Phet. Coastal areas of Balochistan including Pasani, Makran and Gawadar would experience strong gusty winds along with heavy rains on Saturday. On Sunday the day coastal areas of Sindh including Karachi, Kati Bandar, Shah Bandar and the Indian state of Gujrat would also experience strong gusty winds along heavy downpour.The authorities said hospitals had been put on high alert, medicine and equipment stockpiled, and tinned rations and clothes were being arranged to deal with the potential emergency.
