Government pleads relief for 11 including PM, CM Punjab

Session judge overlooked the arguments of the law officer, states Attorney General.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Government pleaded relief for 11 people including Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab in the case of killing of workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at the Constitution Avenue, from Supreme Court today.

Attorney General has submitted his written statement in the SC stating the case filed against 11 high officials including the PM and CM Punjab by the district and session judge for the killings at the Constitution Avenue is illegitimate.

It has also been stated that the session judge overlooked the arguments of the law officer.

The statement further said it is the responsibility of the political administration is to ensure law and order which they thoroughly fulfilled. The administration displayed patience but the protestors broke the law by breaching PM House, Parliament and the premises of Pakistan Television (PTV).

The government’s response affirms that no ammunition had been used during the police action. The clash at Constitution Avenue got 3 people killed, two out of which died as a result of the protesters own firing whereas the other one died a natural death.

Statement says an FIR was registered on August 31and the investigation was consequently being carried out. The second FIR is based on propaganda and lies far from facts. Police arrested the people for the violation of article 144 but the Islamabad High Court released all the detainees.
