In Rawalpindis constituency NA-55, Malik Shakeel Awan of PML-N has been elected as a member of National Assembly after defeating his opponent Sheikh Rasheed by 21,358 votes in the by-elections.According to un-official results of NA-55 by-elections, Shakeel Awan of PML-N has been elected after acquiring 63,888 votes. His opponent Sheikh Rasheed obtained 42,530 votes, where as Sheikh Danish Iftikhar who was third, obtained 5,020 votes. JUIs candidate Dr. Kamal got 3,109 votes and PTIs Ejaz Khan Jazi got 3,105 votes. This un-official result was announced by the district returning officer Tariq Kazmi. According to the returning officer voting percentage was 35.74%. A huge number of PML-N representatives and media persons were also present during this occasion. PML-N party members started celebrations prior to the announcement of un-official results.
