Khushab: NA 69 polling rigged, several forged votes found
Presiding officer recovered over 250 forged ballots stamped in favor of PMLN's candidate.
KHUSHAB: (Dunya News) – By-elections polling for National Assembly’s constituency 69, Thursday, has reportedly been rigged casting severe doubts over the process. Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) alleged the former Member Punjab Assembly (MPA) Ali Haider to influence the process and getting votes casted on gunpoint. Presiding officer recovered over 250 forged ballots stamped in favor of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) candidate.
The polling enthusiasm came to a halt when reports of rigging surfaced. PTI candidate Umar Aslam Awan alleged former MPA Ali Haider Noor Niazi barged into the polling station number 208 and 209 along with some 50 armed supporters and rigged the process in opponents favor.
Presiding officer Shah Jahan Aslam said that the armed men somehow succeeded in casting a few hundred forged ballots; however, following PTI’s protest, the polling was stopped at the disputed polling station at 3:30 afternoon. Presiding officer also said that over 250 fake ballots have been recovered from polling station number 208.
