Lahore: Rains lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas

Most parts of Punjab were drenched by heavy rain on Saturday.

 

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Torrential rains lashed most parts of Punjab, inundating all low lying areas.

 

So far, 35mm of rain has been recorded in Lahore whereas Metrological Department has predicted 80-100mm rain today.

 

Rains in Punjab have decreased humidity and lowered the temperature while water was pooled in many areas of Lahore including Mall Road, McLeod Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Davis Road and Mozang Adda, causing severe problems to the commuters.

 

Four people were injured when roof of a marble factory collapsed in Kot Abdul Malik area.

 

Low lying areas in Gujranawala and adjoining areas have also been inundated with the torrential rainwater causing great civic problems for the locals.

 

On the other hand, the roof of a house collapsed in Pasrur, killing a woman and injuring two others.

 

According to the met department, rains have started in the upper part of the country as the new spell of monsoon rain has entered the country. The rain spell will continue for the next two to three days in Upper Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa.
