IG Motorway police sacked over 'misuse of power'
He has been directed to report to the Establishment Division in this regard.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) Inspector General (IG) Motorway Zafar Abbas Lak has been sacked from his office over publishing banners regarding congratulation to Nawaz Sharif for becoming next prime minister of the country.
At this, he was issued show-cause notice with the direction to report to Establishment Division.
Newly elected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered to take legal action the IG after his reply to a show cause notice was found unsatisfactory.
Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif had expressed displeasure over advertisements published in the newspapers by I.G Motorway to congratulate him on his becoming of Prime Minister. The Prime Minister considered this wastage of public money and had asked to send show cause notice to officials who had used public money to spend on congratulatory advertisements.
On the other hand, prime minister has ended Public Affairs and Complaint Cell in Prime Minister Secretariat.
The officers appointed in the aforesaid institutions also have been directed to report the Establishment Division.
Now the issues regarding Public Affairs and Complaint Wing would be handled by ministry for parliamentary affairs.
