Raja Farooq Haider has been elected the new PM of Azad Kashmir. He got 29 votes while Sardar Yaqoob got 19 votes as 48 members of Azad Kashmir Assembly used their right to vote. Former PM Sardar Yaqoob said in his address that he would continue his support for the development of Azad Kashmir. He also congratulated the new PM. The session of Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly started this morning in Muzaffarabad to elect the ninth prime minister of the state. Former PM Azad Kashmir Sardar Yaqoob had resigned from his post on October 14, 2009. New PM of Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider belongs to a well-known political family of the state and his father was the defense minister of Azad Kashmir. Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider was born in 1955. His father Raja Muhammad Haider Khan had elected twice the president of Muslim Conference while his mother was the first woman member of Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Raja Farooq Haider had elected the member of Azad Kashmir Assembly in 1985 and later on he remained the member of Cabinet as senior minister and education minister. He remained general secretary of Muslim Conference from 1997-2001, and then remained the vice president of the Conference from 2004-2006. Earlier, Farooq Haider was performing his duties as chairman of Public Accounts Committee.
