She divorced her first husband over objection regarding her higher education

LAHORE (Web Desk) – October 25, 2016 marks the 11th death anniversary of folk singer, late Zarina Baloch who also was a noted teacher and social worker.

Not many people know the fact that late Baloch, born on December 29, 1934 in Sindh, separated with her husband over a difference of opinion about her further education.

Zarina Baloch was a believer of education for all and wanted to study further for high education after she was married to one of her relative at 15 years of age.

However, she went on to receive her first ever music award in 1961, a year after separation.

She married twice, the second time on September 22, 1964 in Hyderabad in the years that followed she delivered lectures at the Model School Sindh University before retiring in 1997.

The woman who lived a simple yet impressionable life died of brain cancer in 2005 in Liaquat National Hospital.
