US role in Afghan presidential election will be neutral: Holbrooke
US Special Representative on Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke has said that the US role in the upcoming Afghan Presidential elections will be neutral. In a visit to Afghanistan, Holbrooke looked into the arrangements being made for the elections next month. Despite the unrest and wave of violence in Afghanistan, presidential elections will be held on August 20. It is being said that current president Hamid Karzai is sure to win the elections. Holbrooke also visited Helmand and Qandahar, the provinces which are considered the strong hold of Taliban. Visiting a polling booth in Kabul he said that many problems including women participation in election were in the way of holding elections.
