Ban Ki-moon to travel to Middle East

Ban Ki-moon has said that he will visit Jordan, Israel and occupied Palestinian.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says hell travel to the Middle East next week to try to encourage the Israelis and Palestinians to resume peace talks.Ban told reporters Wednesday that hell visit Jordan, Israel and occupied Palestinian territories in hopes of creating a positive atmosphere for moving forward.Direct talks have been stalled since September 2010, when Israel refused to extend a freeze on settlement building on occupied Palestinian land.Ban also touched on other regional issues during the first news conference of his second five-year term.Noting it was the first anniversary of the uprising in Cairos Tahrir Square, Ban congratulated Egyptians on a peaceful transition to democracy.
