An Indian Army soldier drowned in Rajasthan’s Indira Gandhi Canal during a tank exercise; one soldier survived while rescue teams recovered the deceased after hours of effort.
RAJASTHAN (Web Desk) – In Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan, an Indian army soldier died after a tank sank in the Indira Gandhi Canal during a routine military exercise.
Police said the incident occurred when two soldiers were inside the tank. One managed to escape, while the other tragically drowned inside.
During the drill, armored vehicles and tanks were practicing canal crossing when a tank became stuck mid-canal and submerged.
Police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and civil defense teams rushed to the scene and, after several hours of effort, recovered the soldier’s body.
