The representatives of Honduran ousted President Manuel Zelaya and post-coup leader Roberto Micheletti on Friday finished their talks on Honduras political crisis without reaching an agreement, but promising more meetings. The gathering between the two rivals was scheduled for two days beginning Thursday, with the mediation of Costa Rican President Oscar Arias. But the two failed to have a face-to-face meeting, instead, they left four commissioners on each side to continue the talks.Though the meeting did not yield expected results, Arias said that it was a great advance that both sides have had a frank and direct dialogue.Michelettis representative, Honduran former foreign minister Carlos Lopez thanked Arias for his mediation, saying that the interim government is ready to attend the next meeting to negotiate.Lopez said that Michelettis delegates expected to find a solution to the conflict under the frame of the Honduran Constitution.Meanwhile, Zelayas representative Milton Jimenez, also a former foreign minister, reaffirmed Zelayas position of not accepting other options but his reinstatement.Jimenez said that Zelayas delegates will attend the coming meetings mediated by Arias, also with the participation of a delegation formed by teachers, indigens, peasants and union workers.Michelettis delegates returned on Friday to Honduras, while some of Zelayas will travel to Nicaragua and Dominican Republic. On June 28, Zelaya was seized by heavily armed troops and was forced to leave the country.
