KABUL (Web Desk) - The Taliban government in Afghanistan announced death sentence for alleged blasphemy against Holy Prophet (PBUH).

According to foreign media outlets, the Taliban administration announced that a man named Abdul Aleem Khamosh was found guilty of committing blasphemy in Paktika province of Afghanistan.

The administration further stated that the accused confessed to the "serious offense" during court proceedings.

However, the whereabouts of the trial wasn’t disclosed, raising concerns over the transparency of the legal process.

According to some social media users, Abdul Aleem was a school teacher who was arrested after allegedly telling students that while religious education is important, modern education is more essential.

One user also alleged that he was initially sentenced to two years in prison for "opposing the government," but the charges were later upgraded to blasphemy, resulting in a death sentence.

So far, neither the family of the accused nor any legal representative has come forward with a public statement.

Human rights organizations have strongly criticized the verdict, condemning the lack of legal safeguards and due process in the Taliban-run country.

They have urged the international community to take urgent notice of the case.

It marks the first reported instance of a death sentence for blasphemy during the Taliban’s current four-year rule.
