After causing havoc in various parts of Thailand, now floodwater is rushing towards the capital.
As Pathum Thani Province, 40 kilometers away from Bangkok, was inundated by floodwater on Friday, the floodwater is rushing south toward Thailands capital at a quick speed.Large number of local residents has been evacuated from their flood-stricken homes. Many vehicles from Bangkok to northern Thailand have been detained in Pathum Thani Province, as the national highway has been cut off in the area.Streets of the cities have been submerged in the flooding. In some places, the floodwater is almost waist-deep. Many local residents could be seen evacuated by boats and heavy vehicles.A rescue team carried disaster relief supplies donated by charities to a high ground of the province and sent them to stranded villagers there. Besides bottles of mineral water and instant noodles, simple life jacket made of empty plastic bottles were seen among the supplies. The life jackets had been sold out in local stores and those made of empty plastic bottles were made overnight, according to a volunteer. We received 5,000 meal boxes, water and dry groceries. These supplies are probably enough for the villagers affected, said head of the volunteer rescue team.Local residents who have just been evacuated from flooded area waited at the high ground, ready to leave the area by the volunteers vehicles.
