Indian police arrest PDP workers for holding candlelight vigil for July 13 martyrs

SRINAGAR (KMS) – Indian police arrested on Thursday several People’s Democratic Party (PDP) workers for taking out a candlelight vigil to pay tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931.

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti took to social media handle Twitter and wrote that the arrested workers were taken to Kothibagh police station in Srinagar.

“PDP youth members have been arrested & taken to Kothibagh for taking out a candlelight vigil to pay tributes to the 13th July martyrs. Mother of democracy anyone?” she tweeted along with the photos of PDP members in what appears to be a police vehicle.

Earlier, Mehbooba Mufti said that she was placed under house arrest to stop her from paying tributes to 13 July 1931 martyrs.
