Principal dismissed following Iqbal’s poem recitation in school
New Delhi (Web Desk) – A principal in India’s Uttar Pradesh (UP) province was fired from her job, on a complaint that the students were seen reciting Allama Iqbal’s poem “Lab Pe Aati Hai Dua” in her school.
A video went viral on social media where kids were reciting Iqbal’s poem in a school assembly after which the administration took notice and removed the principal.
According to the sources, the part of the recitation that went online had the part “Meray Allah har burai say bachana mujhko” which translates, “O Allah save me from all bad deeds” and a complaint was registered since ‘Namaz” is not a part of the schedule in India’s government schools.
The education department took notice and stated that no legal proceedings have been followed in this case and her dismissal was on the basis of initial information and a full inquiry will be done later on.
Also, back in 2019, another principal in India’s Peli district (UP) was suspended under the same charges.
