A gunman taking two people hostages in Estonian defence ministry committed suicide.

A man fired shots and set off a smoke bomb at the Defence Ministry in Estonias capital Tallinn then killed himself police moved in, officials said.The prosecutors office said in a statement that a man with a gun broke into the Defence Ministry building in the centre of Tallinn.He threw a smoke bomb at the building and took two hostages who managed to get away. Police surrounded the building and then detained the man.A spokeswoman for the prosecutors office said that the suspect then shot himself. At about 3.30, there were some shots in the building of the defence ministry and police and defence police came and tried to solve the situation.The hostage-taker, who had two hostages, shot himself and the two hostages got away, a police spokesman said.A Defence Ministry spokesman confirmed that the man was shot dead during the police operation.
