A local rights group reported security forces shot dead at least 20 people during anti-government protests.In Damascus, demonstrators chanted Welcome Ramadan, Leave Bashar, referring to the Muslim holy month. Meanwhile, state news said saboteurs bombed an oil pipeline near Homs, causing an oil leak.President Bashar al-Assad has deployed the military to quell the mass protests that have been going on since March.Authorities have waged a brutal crackdown that activists say has killed more than 1,600 civilians since the anti-government protests began in mid-March.
