NATO air strikes kill 31 in Tripoli

A government spokesman says Tripoli is hit by more than 60 NATO rockets, leaving 31 people dead.

The NATO targeted Bab al-Aziziya area where Libyan President Muammar Qaddafi’s compound is located.Addressing a news conference, Libyan government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim said that NATO had lost all its legitimacy and described them as forces of evil.The forces of evil attacked with full power the centre and the outskirts of our beautiful city of Tripoli, we were hit by more than 60 rockets, he said.The spokesman said that 31 people killed in Bab al-Aziziya, the outskirts of Tajoura and Tareeq al-Matar. Some of these 31 were guards guarding the buildings that were hit and some of them were innocent civilians, he said, adding that the injured were in dozens.Ibrahim urged the West to make a U-turn and begin supporting Gaddafis government instead of the pro-democracy rebels.
