Libyan rebels, aided by allied air strikes, have hastened their march towards the capital, Tripoli.
The opposition forces in Libya claimed that they had gained control of many important strategic towns, including Brega, Ajdabiyah and Ras Lanuf, as President Gaddafi’s forces were retreating.The battle in Misratah is heating up and it is being feared that a large number of people have been killed there. The opposition forces accused Gaddafi of using civilians as human shield. A spokesman for the coalition forces said that in more than 100 air strikes, the attacking capability of Gaddafi’s forces was marginalised. Denying Libyan authorities’ claim that 100 people were killed in allied strikes, the spokesman said that Gaddafi was killing his people to propagate against the coalition.
