Brazil: Anti-nuclear activists hold vigil

Dozens of environmental activists staged a protest in Brazil to demand the closure of the countrys nuclear power stations following Japan s nuclear accident. Demonstrators, holding candles or and posters that read nuclear energy kills, gathered in a square at the Japanese district of Liberdade in Sao Paulo to protest in the aftermath of Japans quake. Japan has been scrambling to cool down its Fukushima power plant since it was hit by the devastating March 11 quake and tsunami.The incident has prompted some countries to block imports of products from Japan, fearful of radiation contamination. Brazil s Congress will vote this week to move ahead with the construction of its third nuclear reactor.
