(Web Desk) – Protests have broken out across the Muslim world over the controversial announcement made by US President Donald Trump regarding moving its embassy to Jerusalem.

Following Trump’s announcement protests broke out in the West Bank and the Gaza strip on Wednesday as Hamas urged Palestinians to launch a fresh uprising against Israel.

Leaders of the Muslim world have condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s move with concerns also being raised by leaders of the EU and the West. Following Friday prayers, protest rallies broke out in major cities across the Muslim world responding to calls made to denounce the recent move by the US.

Thousands of protestors in Muslim-majority Indonesia and Malaysia joined rallies on Friday to condemn Washington’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, as authorities tightened security outside U.S. embassies.

Protests were also staged across South Asia including Pakistan, where the Jamaat-e-Islami had earlier announced to hold rallies in all major cities after Friday prayers.A protest rally was also held in Lahore where anti US slogans were chanted and effigies burnt after Jummah prayers. Security personnel were on high alert in areas where protests took place.
