(Web Desk) - World Post Day is celebrated each year on October 9 in order to generate awareness regarding the significant role of postal services not just in the lives of ordinary people but also in businesses.

The day also marks the contribution of postal services to global, social and economic development. The World Post Day marks the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) established in 1874. The UPU is the second oldest international organisation worldwide. Member countries of the UPU organise activities to celebrate the day.
