Uttarakhand government had challenged the decision.

(WEB DESK)- India’s Supreme Court on Friday stayed the judgement that accorded River Yamuna and River Ganga status of living entities.

Earlier this year on March-20, Uttarakhand High Court awarded living status to two aforementioned holy rivers.

The move, according to the court, was aimed at “preservation and conservation of the two rivers and to protect the recognition and faith of society”.

Uttarakhand government had challenged this bizarre decision in country’s top court.
