Mitt Romney has conceded defeat in the presidential contest.

Republican challenger Mitt Romney conceded defeat in the US election early Wednesday, telling supporters that he had called President Barack Obama to congratulate him on his victory.His supporters and his campaign also deserve congratulations, he said, in a brief address at his Boston campaign headquarters. I wish all of them well but particularly the president, the first lady and their daughters.Romney thanked his running mate Paul Ryan, saying the Wisconsin congressman had a bright future in the Republican Party.Romney lost nearly all the major battleground states to Obama including Ohio, the most contested prize.The former Massachusetts governor said it was time to put aside partisan bickering and work together for the good of the country.
