Violent clashes in Jammu University

Five students of Jammu University were injured after violent clashes broke out between the students and the Indian police on Tuesday. Students, who were protesting against the Indian government and demanding a central status for their university, pelted stones at the police. This forced the police to resort to baton charge to stop the students from protesting. The police restricted the students to the college campus and ensured that they did not spill on to the streets of the city. However, the students continue to raise slogans against the Indian government within the campus. This comes after the Indian government granted the Central status to Kashmir, despite of the promise to grant the same to Jammu was confirmed earlier.
