(WebDesk) - Different deadly games on social media have become quite fatal for children. After the scary and bloodcurdling social media debacle ‘Blue Whale’, here comes another terrible suicidal game being viral all over the social media.

Momo is reportedly a social media account on WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube, which uses the image of an artwork invoking horror. The artwork, called Mother Bird by Link Factory, induces curiosity among children, challenging them to communicate with an unknown number.

Momo challenge is a  suicide  game on WhatsApp that has gone viral. In Momo challenge, the sculpture s picture is used to send challenges to teenagers.


According to the media reports, the avatar used by Momo is an image of a woman with grotesque features and bulging eyes taken from the work of Japanese artist Midori Hayashi, who is not associated with the game in any way.

Till now, the Momo challenge has been linked to the death of a 12-year old Argentinean girl as per a report by Buenos Aires Times. Following this, the Cops in Argentina are searching for the “adolescent with whom she exchanged those messages”.

Police around the world are warning parents of a disturbing, violent internet challenge that could be encouraging children to take their own life. The police services in US, Brazil, Argentine, Columbia and Mexico have warned parents to keep a keen eye on the social media activities of their children. National Police of Spain has issued a warning to the parents against the Momo challenge.

As per cybercrime experts, the Momo challenge is a hoax aimed at stealing information.


The challenge seems to be passing around primarily through WhatsApp and Facebook, and authorities aren’t sure of the perpetrators’ motive.


Earlier, the Blue Whale challenge that pushed teens to commit suicide through a series of instructions from a stranger over the Internet.

According to an Indian media website, the Blue Whale challenge has reportedly consumed nearly 100 individual’s lives in India itself in the last year. The deadly online game challenged players for over 50 days, demanding them to complete tasks given by an anonymous controller. The game initially asked the player to draw a whale on a piece of paper, then carved a whale figure on their body, and then gave other tasks such as watching horror movies alone at odd hours. The task concluded with the final challenge that is, committing suicide.
