Scientists trying to breed monster stick insects

Scientists are trying to produce more of the Ctenomorpha gargantuan species.

(Web Desk) - Scientists in Australia are currently trying to breed really long stick insects.

They‘re actually trying to produce more of the Ctenomorpha gargantuan species because only three of its females have been seen in the wild.

"For a species that is so rarely seen, it is wonderful to have even a few live specimens in captivity," said Melbourne Museum‘s Patrick Honan.

The scientists hope to beat the record of largest insect ever that was set by a 56.7cm Chan’s megastick.

They have a good chance considering they have produced eggs from a 56.5cm Lady Gagantuan (Lady Gaga) that had a 50cm mother.
