Teenagers playing computer games for long hours prone to osteoporosis
The inactive lifestyle among teenagers causes bones weakness and raises obesity.
(Web Desk) - The research journal BMJ case report revealed that children who spend a lot of time playing computer games have weaker bones and in later life they face an increased risk of fractures and osteoporosis.
According to Norwegian study, the inactive lifestyle among teenagers causes bones weakness and raises obesity.
Along with nutritional factors, physical activity can greatly impact on this process.
Earlier this year, an unnamed teenager was admitted to hospital because he had complained of pain in his left hip and knee for more than a month before fracturing his femur. The doctors said tests of a boy revealed that ‘vitamin D deficiency to be the likely underlying cause for this fracture’.
A lack of the vitamin is known to prevent the body from processing calcium and other minerals crucial to bone health.
However, this is common among elders as they are deficient in the vitamin and they do not go outdoors enough which is another reason they are prone to fractures.
