ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the appointment of Mohiuddin Wani, Secretary of Inter-Provincial Coordination, as the ad-hoc president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) following reports of mismanagement within the body.

The move comes alongside instructions to hold elections in the federation, ensuring transparent governance of Pakistan hockey affairs.

The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) investigative committee submitted a report to the Prime Minister’s Office, holding the PHF responsible for mismanagement during the national hockey team’s Australia tour. According to the report, the team was scheduled to depart Lahore on 2 February and arrive in Hobart on 4 February. However, delays and errors in visa processing caused the scheduled flight to be cancelled.

Rebooking flights cost the PSB an additional PKR 27.1 million, while visa processing imposed a further financial burden of PKR 9.7 million. For accommodation in Australia, the PSB had provided USD 49,280 in advance, yet the team was not accommodated at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel as planned.

Players received a daily allowance of USD 115 per person, with approximately USD 3,000 allocated for other miscellaneous expenses. The team eventually departed on 5 February and reached Hobart on 7 February, where alternative accommodation arrangements were made for the period of 6-14 February.
